BNV : গিলিয়দের তিশ্বী শহরে এলিয় নামে এক ভাববাদী বাস করতেন| তিনি রাজা আহাবকে বললেন, “আমি ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, প্রভুর সেবক| আমি সেই প্রভুর নামে অভিশাপ দিলাম আগামী কয়েক বছর বৃষ্টিপাত তো দূরের কথা, এদেশে এক ফোঁটা শিশির পর্য়ন্ত আর পড়বে না| এক মাত্র আমি নির্দেশ দিলেই আবার বৃষ্টিপাত হবে|”
KJV : And Elijah the Tishbite, [who was] of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, [As] the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
YLT : And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, saith unto Ahab, `Jehovah, God of Israel, liveth, before whom I have stood, there is not these years dew and rain, except according to my word.`
RV : And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the sojourners of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD, the God of Israel, liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
RSV : Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word."
ASV : And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the sojourners of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As Jehovah, the God of Israel, liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
ESV : Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word."
ERVEN : Elijah was a prophet from the town of Tishbe in Gilead. He said to King Ahab, "I serve the Lord, the God of Israel. By his power, I promise that no dew or rain will fall for the next few years. The rain will fall only when I command it to fall."

BNV : প্রভু তখন এলিয়কে সে জায়গা ছেড়ে যর্দন নদীর পূর্ব দিকে করীত্‌ খাঁড়ির কাছে লুকিয়ে থাকতে বললেন|

YLT : `Go from this [place]; and thou hast turned for thee eastward, and been hidden by the brook Cherith, that [is] on the front of the Jordan,
RV : Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
RSV : "Depart from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is east of the Jordan.

BNV : তিনি এলিয়কে জানান য়ে তিনি কাক ও শকুনিদের রোজ তাঁর জন্য সেখানে খাবার এনে দেবার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন এবং তৃষ্ণা পেলে এলিয় করীতের জলধারা থেকে জলপানও করতে পারবেন|
KJV : And it shall be, [that] thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
YLT : and it hath been, from the brook thou dost drink, and the ravens I have commanded to sustain thee there.`
RV : And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
RSV : You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there."

BNV : প্রভুর নির্দেশ মতো এলিয় তখন য়র্দনের পূর্বদিকে করীত্‌ খাঁড়ির কাছে বাস করতে গেলেন|
KJV : So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that [is] before Jordan.
YLT : And he goeth and doth according to the word of Jehovah, yea, he goeth and dwelleth by the brook Cherith, that [is] on the front of the Jordan,

BNV : প্রতিদিন সকালে ও বিকেলে কাক ও শকুনিরা এলিয়কে খাবার এনে দিত আর তৃষ্ণা পেলে তিনি করীতের স্রোত থেকে জল পান করতেন|
KJV : And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
YLT : and the ravens are bringing to him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and of the brook he drinketh.

BNV : সীদোনের সারিফতে যাওয়ার নির্দেশ দিলেন| তিনি বললেন, “সেখানে এক বিধবা রমণী বাস করে| আমি তাঁকে তোমার খাবারের ব্যবস্থা করতে নির্দেশ দিয়েছি|”
KJV : Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which [belongeth] to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
YLT : `Rise, go to Zarephath, that [is] to Zidon, and thou hast dwelt there; lo, I have commanded there a widow woman to sustain thee.`

BNV : এলিয় তখন সারিফত নগরের দরজার কাছে গিয়ে এক বিধবা মহিলাকে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে দেখতে পেলেন| সে আগুন জ্বালানোর জন্য কাঠ জড়ো করছিল| এলিয় তাঁকে বললেন, “আমায় একটু খাবার জল এনে দিতে পারো?”
KJV : So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman [was] there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
YLT : And he riseth, and goeth to Zarephath, and cometh in unto the opening of the city, and lo there, a widow woman gathering sticks, and he calleth unto her, and saith, `Bring, I pray thee, to me, a little water in a vessel, and I drink.`

ERVEN : So Elijah went to Zarephath. He went to the town gate and saw a woman there gathering wood for a fire. She was a widow. Elijah said to her, "Would you bring me a small cup water to drink?"

BNV : সেই মহিলা জল আনতে যাবার সময় এলিয় আবার তাকে অনুরোধ করলেন, “দয়া করে আমার খাবার জন্য এক টুকরো রুটি এনো|”
KJV : And as she was going to fetch [it,] he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
YLT : And she goeth to bring [it], and he calleth unto her and saith, `Bring, I pray thee, to me a morsel of bread in thy hand.`

BNV : কিন্তু সেই মহিলা উত্তর দিলেন, “আমি তোমার প্রভু ঈশ্বরের সামনে দিব্য়ি খেযে বলছি, আমার ঘরে রুটি নেই| শুধু বযামে অল্প একটু মযদা আর শিশিতে অল্প খানিক তেল রাখা আছে| আমি এখানে কাঠ কুড়োতে এসেছিলাম| আমি এই কাঠ বাড়ীতে বয়ে নিয়ে যাবো এবং আগুন বালিয়ে রুটি সেঁকব এবং আমার পুত্র ও আমি আমাদের শেষ আহার করব এবং তারপর খিদের জ্বালায মরে যাবো|”
KJV : And she said, [As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I [am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
YLT : And she saith, `Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but the fulness of the hand of meal in a pitcher, and a little oil in a dish; and lo, I am gathering two sticks, and have gone in and prepared it for myself, and for my son, and we have eaten it -- and died.`
RV : And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in the barrel, and a little oil in the cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
RSV : And she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a cruse; and now, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die."
ASV : And she said, As Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
ESV : And she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die."
ERVEN : The woman answered, "I promise you, before the Lord your God, that I have nothing but a handful of flour in a jar and a little bit of olive oil in a jug. I came here to gather a few pieces of wood for a fire to cook our last meal. My son and I will eat it and then die from hunger."

BNV : এলিয় সেই মহিলাকে বললেন, “কোনো চিন্তা কোরো না| কথা মতো বাড়ি গিয়ে রান্না চড়াও| কিন্তু তার আগে ঐ মযদা থেকে ছোট্ট একটা রুটি বানিয়ে আমার জন্য নিয়ে এসো| তারপর তুমি তোমার আর তোমার পুত্রের জন্য রান্না করো|
KJV : And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go [and] do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring [it] unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
YLT : And Elijah saith unto her, `Fear not, go, do according to thy word, only make for me thence a little cake, in the first place, and thou hast brought out to me; and for thee and for thy son make -- last;
RV : And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it forth unto me, and afterward make for thee and for thy son.

ERVEN : Elijah said to the woman, "Don't worry. Go home and cook your food as you said. But first make a small piece of bread from the flour that you have and bring it to me. Then cook some for yourself and your son.

BNV : ইস্রায়েলের প্রভু ঈশ্বর বললেন, ‘ঐ মযদার কৌটো কখনও শূন্য হবে না| যত দিন না প্রভু এ দেশে বৃষ্টি পাঠাচ্ছেন তত দিন পর্য়ন্ত ঐ শিশির তেলও আর কমবে না|”‘
KJV : For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day [that] the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
YLT : for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, The pitcher of meal is not consumed, and the dish of oil is not lacking, till the day of Jehovah`s giving a shower on the face of the ground.`
RV : For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
RSV : For thus says the LORD the God of Israel, `The jar of meal shall not be spent, and the cruse of oil shall not fail, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.'"

ERVEN : The Lord, the God of Israel, says, 'That jar of flour will never be empty and the jug will always have oil in it. This will continue until the day the Lord sends rain to the land.'"

BNV : তখন ঐ মহিলা বাড়ি ফিরে গিয়ে এলিয়র কথা মতো কাজ করল| এলিয়, ঐ মহিলাটি এবং তার পুত্র বহু দিনের জন্য য়থেষ্ট খাদ্য পেয়েছিল|
KJV : And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat [many] days.
YLT : And she goeth, and doth according to the word of Elijah, and she eateth, she and he, and her household -- days;
RV : And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat {cf15i many} days.
RSV : And she went and did as Elijah said; and she, and he, and her household ate for many days.

ERVEN : So the woman went home and did what Elijah told her to do. And Elijah, the woman, and her son had enough food for a long time.

BNV : প্রভু এলিয়কে যা ভাববাণী করেছিলেন, সেই কথা মতোই ঐ মযদার বযাম ও তেলের শিশি কখনও শূন্য হয় নি|
KJV : [And] the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
YLT : the pitcher of meal was not consumed, and the dish of oil did not lack, according to the word of Jehovah that He spake by the hand of Elijah.
RV : The barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

ERVEN : The jar of flour and the jug of oil were never empty. This happened just as the Lord said through Elijah.

BNV : কিছু দিন পরে মহিলার পুত্র খুবই অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ে| শেষে এক সময় তার নিঃশ্বাস বন্ধ হয়ে গেলে
KJV : And it came to pass after these things, [that] the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, after these things, the son of the woman, mistress of the house, hath been sick, and his sickness is very severe till that no breath hath been left in him.
RV : And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
RSV : After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill; and his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.

ERVEN : Some time later the woman's son became sick. He became worse and worse until he stopped breathing.

BNV : মহিলা এলিয়কে এসে বলল, “আপনি ঈশ্বরের লোক, আপনি কি আমায় সাহায্য করতে পারবেন? নাকি আপনি এখানে এসে কেবল আমাকে আমার পাপের কথা মনে করিযে দিয়ে আমার পুত্রকে মৃত্যুর দিকে ঠেলে দেবেন?”
KJV : And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
YLT : And she saith unto Elijah, `What -- to me and to thee, O man of God? thou hast come unto me to cause mine iniquity to be remembered, and to put my son to death!`
RV : And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? thou art come unto me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!
RSV : And she said to Elijah, "What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to cause the death of my son!"
ASV : And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? thou art come unto me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!
ESV : And she said to Elijah, "What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!"
ERVEN : Then the woman said to Elijah, "You are a man of God. Can you help me? Or did you come here only to remind me of my sins and to make my son die?"

BNV : এলিয় তাকে বললেন, “তোমার পুত্রকে আমার কাছে এনে দাও|” তারপর এলিয় পুত্রটিকে ওপরে নিয়ে গিয়ে য়ে ঘরে তিনি থাকতেন তার নিজের খাটে শুইযে দিলেন|
KJV : And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
YLT : And he saith unto her, `Give to me thy son;` and he taketh him out of her bosom, and taketh him up unto the upper chamber where he is abiding, and layeth him on his own bed,
RV : And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the chamber, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

ERVEN : Elijah said to her, "Give me your son." He took the boy from her and carried him upstairs. He laid him on the bed in the room where he was staying.

BNV : তারপর এলিয় প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করে বললেন, “প্রভু, আমার ঈশ্বর, এই বিধবা রমণী আমাকে তার বাড়িতে আশ্রয় দিয়েছে| আপনি কি তার প্রতি এই অনাচার করবেন? আপনি কি তার পুত্রকে মারা য়েতে দেবেন?”
KJV : And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
YLT : and crieth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Jehovah my God, also on the widow with whom I am sojourning hast Thou done evil -- to put her son to death?`
RV : And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
RSV : And he cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, hast thou brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?"
ASV : And he cried unto Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
ESV : And he cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, have you brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?"
ERVEN : Then Elijah prayed, "Lord my God, this widow is letting me stay in her house. Will you do this bad thing to her? Will you cause her son to die?"

BNV : তারপর এলিয় পর পর তিন বার সেই ছেলেটার ওপর শুয়ে প্রার্থনা করে বললেন, “প্রভু, আমার ঈশ্বর, এই ছেলেটাকে পুনর্জীবিত করুন|”
KJV : And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
YLT : And he stretcheth himself out on the lad three times, and calleth unto Jehovah, and saith, `O Jehovah my God, let turn back, I pray Thee, the soul of this lad into his midst;`
RV : And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child-s soul come into him again.
RSV : Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, let this child's soul come into him again."
ASV : And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah my God, I pray thee, let this childs soul come into him again.
ESV : Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, let this child's life come into him again."
ERVEN : Then Elijah lay on top of the boy three times. He prayed, "Lord my God, let this boy live again!"

KJV : And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
